Mali Festivals...

I found out that many of the festivals in Markala and Segu are actually in January and Febuary. I recommend the group rallies around the month of January. If I have people that want to do a Febuary trip we can arrange that also. For me, we can even do a tour on an offtime with only one person. I am open. Tell me what you would like...

I want to see Mali culture, that is my first priority, and that includes listening to a lot of Mali music, particularly kora music, that is my favorite- hence going to a festival sounds great.
Swimming in healing waters also sounds great!:)
The key to my trip is money- I am not able to spend the kind of money that I know others are spending for group tours... so until I know an estimate of costs for a 2 week visit, I can't make an educated decision.
What is the main language spoken in Mali?

Thanks for that comment Kara. Estimate of cost for 2 weeks totally depends on how you guys want to lodge. If you want to stay in nice hotels it will cost alot. If you want to stay in a village African style it is cheaper. Village style with all transport, food, and guides I am thinking it is possible for $1500. In terms of Kora music, I happen to be friends witht he best kora player in the world. He lives here in Bamako. Whatever amount of time we decide to spend in Bamako he can play every night at my place if you want. He is a very spiritual person and a great human being. Malian music, that would definately be the focus for the trip. I am thinking about keeping the focus of the music solely traditional. How does that sound?
